The Elegance of Minimalism

A deep matte statement for modern spaces – unobtrusive, noble, and absolutely timeless.

The WordClock Jupiter in powder-coated black steel is the purest form of our time displays. Reduced to the essentials, the finely structured surface absorbs distracting light reflections in the room and allows the illuminated letters to stand majestically in the foreground. A design object for aesthetes looking for something special in the unobtrusive.

The Manufacturing Process - From Raw Sheet to Fine Surface

Behind the flawless aesthetics of our Black Powder Coated Edition lies a sophisticated, multi-stage refinement process. Each front plate passes through precisely defined handcrafted and industrial stations in our workshop:

The base made of cold-rolled steel
01

The base made of cold-rolled steel: The front is made of high-quality cold-rolled steel – a material characterized by extreme density, stability, and perfect flatness. Even in its raw form, this material stands for quality and clearly defined structures.

Precise laser cutting
02

Precise laser cutting: The letters for the time display are cut from the solid steel sheet with micrometer precision using a powerful industrial laser and are then carefully deburred.

Thermal powder coating
03

Thermal powder coating: After laser cutting and deburring, the steel sheets are cleaned and pre-treated to create a flawless base for the powder coating. A fine powder of pigments and resin is electrostatically applied and baked at 200°C. In this way, the layer fuses permanently with the metal – creating a homogeneous and robust coating.

Finest details through silkscreen printing
04

Finest details through silkscreen printing: After baking, the logo is applied using the silkscreen process. The precise silkscreen print sets a low-contrast accent and completes the matte black surface.

Surface quality inspection

The result is a surface with optical depth and clear graphics. Finally, each finished front is meticulously inspected for quality.

Powder-Coated Steel:
Technology and Design in Balance

The Sand Black color shade is characterized by a fine grain and a deep matte level of blackness. The satin haptic reduces reflections to a minimum and gives the surface a pleasantly textured feel. This type of powder coating combines aesthetic restraint with technical resistance.

Daily Life Advantages

  • Optimal Readability

The matte structure gently diffuses the incoming light in the room. Neither reflecting windows nor bright lamps interfere with the view of the time – the design remains perfectly legible from every angle.

  • Flawless Optics

Fingerprints are a thing of the past. The surface is immune to touch and remains permanently aesthetically pure, even with frequent contact.

  • Long-Lasting Resilience

Whether in daily use or from accidental touch – the Sand structure is highly mechanically resilient. Micro-scratches or tiny signs of wear are concealed by the nature of the surface, ensuring the clock retains its like-new quality for years to come.

  • Seamless Design Integration

With its deep matte finish, Sand Black looks as sovereign as it is restrained. It blends harmoniously into any interior – from puristic-modern to warm industrial style – and emphasizes the character of your living space without pushing itself into the foreground.

  • High-Quality Haptic

Even during assembly or a light touch, you feel the standards of a premium product. The textured haptic immediately conveys the value of precise metal craftsmanship.

  • Low-Maintenance Lifestyle

Thanks to the anti-static property of the coating, the surface attracts less dust than conventional materials. Cleaning is effortless and straightforward.

The Origin of the Material - From an
Industrial Classic to a Design Object

The roots of steel powder coating lie in the robust heavy industry of the 1950s.

Originally developed to protect steel from corrosion and mechanical abrasion under the harshest conditions, the technique was for a long time restricted to factory floors and technical equipment.

The fact that this extremely resilient process is now finding its way into private living spaces marks a shift in the understanding of quality: today we demand furniture and objects that not only look excellent, but tell a story of technical superiority.

Our Black Powder Coated Edition references this industrial origin, yet refines it with a precision that today can only be found in workshop manufacturing – a commitment to timeless, functional design.

Black Steel - A Statement in Modern Interior Design

In recent years, black steel has evolved from a purely industrial material into an absolute favorite of the international interior design scene.

Why Designers Rely on Matte Black Steel

In modern interior architecture, today it is about far more than just colors – it is about textures and contrasts. Powder-coated steel in matte black is the secret weapon of interior designers to give rooms visual structure and depth.

While glossy surfaces often look restless, the deep matte finish of this edition radiates an effortless sovereignty. It is the perfect balance between industrial loft character and minimalism.

The Art of Timeless Durability

Trends come and go, but matte black steel remains a silent classic. While high-gloss surfaces or bright trend colors often look outdated after just a few years, an object in matte black preserves its aesthetic validity over decades.

It is the choice for discerning minimalists who focus on longevity and know: real design is not defined by loud signals, but by the quality of the material – a quality that proves itself anew every single day.

The Scandinavian & Japandi style

The Scandinavian &
Japandi Style

Break the soft dominance of oak, linen, beige, or sage green. Positioned on a light wall, the matte black WordClock acts as a graphic anchor. It draws the eye and gives the room a clear, modern edge without disrupting the cozy character.

on Exposed Concrete & Brick

Here the material is in its element. On rough concrete or red brick walls, the black steel front integrates seamlessly into the architecture. The contrast here is created not by the color, but by the interplay of the surfaces: rough, porous concrete meets the extremely fine, homogeneous sand texture of the clock.

The architectural look with clean lines

Clean Lines

The Steel Edition makes an especially strong impression where the space already operates with clean forms: above a simple sideboard, next to a linear kitchen, or on a calm wall surface in the living area. The matte black steel front deliberately steps back while still setting a precise accent.

The Interplay of Light in
the Room

An often underestimated advantage in interior design: the micro-fine structure of the powder coating acts as a light absorber.

Where conventional clocks with glass fronts or lacquered surfaces reflect light from windows, floor lamps, or the television, making them difficult to read, the Black Powder Coated Edition absorbs these reflections completely.

This ensures a constantly perfect, high-contrast text appearance – at any time of day and under any lighting condition.

Pro-Tip for Light Direction:

The matte surface harmonizes perfectly with indirect LED light or a subtle spotlight.

Without light bouncing back from the surface, no "hotspots" or distracting glare are created – the clock becomes a canvas for a soft lighting mood that bathes the room in a warm, atmospheric light.
